For her exam in industrial design, Nina Schmalz took the idea of a forum as the starting point for creating a temporary open-air stage. The concept of a temporary setting up is the very important point of this design. It provides the transformation of public places into meeting points, into places of communication and cultural life, like f.e. concerts and plays. |

The open-air stage is the result of my search in defining a place in urban settings that offers space for various cultural events and activities during the summer season. The structure is scheduled for approximately 450 spectators seated on steps with a cushion underneath. The stage system in it's systematical construction guarantees a maximum of flexibilty in itself and supports corresponding processes between stage and environment. Three swivelling partition walls of woven stainless steel on each side of the stage create a concentrated atmosphere during a performance and may serve for the artists' entrance/exit. The flexible textile roof is guarded along the threedimensional archstructure and, therefore, is adjustable to a particular setting. The arch carries the lighting fixtures and also serves as a symbol visible over a long distance. |
